Community Hall and Administrative Office

Community HallThe Community Hall was built in 1972 and was funded through the Department of Aboriginal and Northern Affairs.

The hall capacity is 200 people and many functions are held here yearly.

 

Meadow Portage Recreation Commission

The Recreation Commission is a volunteer group that works with the Recreation Director and residents to promote and initiate events in the community.

The committee consists of:

Meadow Portage co-shares a recreation director, OJ Sabiston, with Crane River, Spence Lake, and Rock Ridge. OJ’s office days in Meadow Portage is Wednesday.

 The Recreation Commission has a monthly recreation and wellness plan which lists all community events.

Fire Hall and Fire Truck

Fire HallThe fire hall was built in 1981 and in March of 1982 the first real fire truck was bought. At present day the Community owns the present day 1995 Ford truck.

Skating Rink & Recreation Facility

Rec CentreThe community has a covered (not insulated) skating rink with a cement floor.

Attached to the rink is a recreation centre which houses the recreation directors office, two change rooms, a large kitchen, and a large lobby, viewing area.

Council hires a supervisor for skating, the schedule is as follows:

There is always a supervisor on site for the skating. The rink is also used for weddings and summer dances. The capacity for such dances is 400 people.

Water Pump House

The Community has a truck and pail fill outlet. The water is pumped to the community through under ground pipes from Waterhen. This water is checked for chlorine levels every morning by our water operator, Mary T. Shewchuk.

The pumphouse is capable to increase the level of chlorine leaving the pumphouse. Also, the water is sent away every two weeks to be tested by a lab in Winnipeg and the results are sent to Manitoba Water Stewardship Office of Drinking Water.

Community Machine Shed and Compound

The community shed stores water pumps, riding mowers, lumber, snow blower, and community tractor. Council rents out a water pump and hoses to community residents who have to fill dugouts.

Refuse Site

The refuse site is open from May 1 - November 1 on Wednesday 9am - 11am and Sundays 2pm - 4pm. Winter months the dump is open from November 1 - May 1 on Wednesdays 9am - 11am.
